IMPERIALISMO = indirizzo di politica mondiale tipico delle grandi potenze, per il predominio politico, economico e culturale sulle nazioni meno sviluppate. Imperialismo sotto forma di neocolonialismo = dominio indiretto politico, ideologico, culturale dei paesi del Terzo Mondo, globalizzazione dei modi di produzione capitalista.
LA continuazione dell’imperialismo chiarisce perché si parla di postcolonialismo e non di post-imperialismo.
POSTCOLONIALE = Concetto venutasi a creare dopo l’indipendenza degli ex paesi coloniali. Termine non inteso tanto nel senso di sequenza cronologica ( dopo il colonialismo) ma come superamento di esso, quindi accezione sia temporale che ideologica; mette anche in evidenza la volontà di rivolta contro i vecchi e nuovi colonialismi Un paese postcoloniale può a sua volta porsi come potenza coloniale nei confronti delle proprie minoranze etniche ( es.in Australia contro gli aborigeni, in Canada agli indiani d’America).
