Yet, but, however, nevertheless, though/although can be used to combine two opposing or contrasting statements.
Ex:
He was angry, but/yet he listened to me patiently [ma, tuttavia]
Though/Although he was angry he listened to me patiently [sebbene]
He listened to me patiently though he was angry [sebbene, per quanto]
He was angry nevertheless/however he listened to me patiently [comunque, nonostante ciò]
But also:
In spite of being angry he listened to me patiently [per quanto fosse, sebbene]
In spite of his anger he listened to me patiently
