Stuat Molthrop, Hegirascope, http://iat.ubalt.edu/moulthrop/hypertexts/hgs/

On the Web, time-based work existed even before Flash, Quicktime and Realplayer were commonplace, in the form of animated gifs and hypertext works, such as Stuart Moulthrop's Hegirascope which included the "temporal link," the use of the HTML "refresh" tag to automatically change the screen after a certain number of seconds, producing a narrative that literally moves through time.

video web log ?-\/] video blog di Andrian Miles

«video wants to be hypertext or hypertext has evolved into video» o «cutting is […] something a bit more fluid, a bit like thinking where web page begins or ends. For those who've only recently lost their footing and fallen into the flood of hypertext, literary or otherwise, it may be dismaying to learn that they are arriving after the golden age is already over, but that's in the nature of golden ages: not even there until so seen by succeeding generations.

literature is traditionally slow and low-tech and thoughtful, the Net is fast and high tech and actional. [R. Coover, “The Literary Hypertext: The Passing of the Golden Age”, Feed Magazine 2000, http://www.feedmag.com/document/do291lofi.html]
